Funeral services will be held for James Coy Walker, at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time, prior to service.
James Coy Walker was born in Liberty Hill near Bienville, LA on October 12, 1931. He passed away at Willow Ridge Nursing home in Arcadia on May 28, 2018.
James is preceded in death by his wife Ida Mae Jordan, his parents Elmer Walker and Mattie Walker, brother A.Q. Walker, brother EL Walker, sister OV Martin, and brother Dean Walker, by his father -in-law Allen Jordan and mother-in-law Vernie Jordan, and by his former son-in-law Pat Smith.
James is survived by daughter Jan Middleton and husband Bruce, 3 grandsons Matt, Chris, and Casey Middleton, two great granddaughters Emma and Lillie Middleton, 3 great grandsons, Aiden, Owen and Nolan Middleton, and by daughter Fran Mizell and husband Johnny.
James was employed as a woodsman for several years before entering the Army during the Korean Conflict, where he served on the front line for 9 months as a tank driver and a driver for a lieutenant. After returning to the states, James was employed with LP&L until his retirement.
He and Ida had a passion for wood-work, which he passed on to two of his grandsons. He also gave them all a zest for life and love of people.
A special thanks to his caretakers Tonie Lathon, Jessie Wayne, Carolyn Thompson, Samantha Smith and her mother Ada Roberson and Faye. A special thanks to Terry Jackson who was daddy's right hand man and Anjelica Smith.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hunter, Johnny Fields, Terry Jackson, Glen Jackson, David Walker, Kenny Martin, Mickey Martin, Jimmy Smith and Tom Dragland.
