Jane Stephens Lorant

On Monday, March 20, 2023 Jane Stephens Lorant passed away at home peacefully with her loving family at her side. Jane is preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years, Soc Lorant. For 92 years Jane devoted her life to her family and faith. Jane was born January 28, 1931 in Fairfield, Alabama, she was the daughter of Greek immigrants, Steve and Evangeline Stephens. Jane spent all of her time raising her family, serving her church and volunteering at the church and her children's schools and activities. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox, a member of the Ladies of Philoptochos and The Daughters of Penelope. Jane and Soc enjoyed 60 years of motor homing across North America with the Pelican Travelers club. She loved cooking, flower arranging and entertaining with her family and friends. She enjoyed a fun game of cards like Hand and Foot or Mexican Train with family or friends.

Jane is survived by her children and their spouses, Evangeline and Michael Scivally, Steve and Denise Lorant and Denise and Bruce Busada; grandchildren, Steve and Elizabeth Scivally, Christopher and Vanessa Scivally, Laura and Brice Duba, Sara and Jeremy Meighan, Maria and Jeremy Frank, Kalil and Krista Busada, Patrick and Angela Shea and Kelly Shea, along with 12 great-grandchildren.

Honoring Jane as pallbearers are Steve Scivally, Chris Scivally, Kalil Busada, Brice Duba, Jeremy Meighan and Jeremy Frank. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Chris Booras, Kelly Shea, Charles Keene and Gary Russell.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1719 Creswell Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana with burial immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery, 130 Stoner Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Rose-­Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Father loannis Krokos.
