Funeral services honoring the life of Jane Salter will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Officiating the service will be Dr. Greg Davis. Interment will be held immediately following the service in Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd, Shreveport, Louisiana.
Jane Salter, a lifelong resident of Shreveport passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at The Chateaus at Montclair, Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 94.
Born May 10, 1927 in Shreveport, Louisiana to John Elmer and Clemmie Edwards Hanna. She married LeDarby Salter on April 9, 1949. She was a lifelong member of Mangum Memorial Methodist Church of Shreveport, where she was a member of the handbell choir.
Jane worked for Bacon and Edwards Hardware and Buckelew Hardware for many years before she become a bus driver for Caddo Parish Schools, retiring after 25 years of loyal service. She loved the outdoors and was an avid camper, fisherman and a beloved Cub Scout Den mother. Jane was also a skilled seamstress. A devout Christian, she frequently participated in many of the youth ministries at her church, Mangum Memorial. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 72 years, LeDarby Salter and sisters, Carrie Mae Craig and Clemmie Jo Barry.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dennis Ray Salter and wife, Carolyn of Stonewall, Louisiana, Patricia Ann Wooten and husband, James of Avinger, Texas; grandchildren, Caroline Hope Salter Smith and husband, Jeffery of Stonewall, Louisiana, Emilee Frances Redmon and husband, Aaron of Lindale, Texas, Hailee Diann Hernandez and husband, Henry of Lindale, Texas, James Christopher Wooten and wife, Carmen of Garland, Texas; great-grandchildren, Oliver James Redmon and Lily Ann Redmon of Lindale, Texas; step-great-grandchild, Josh Smith of Stonewall, Louisiana; a host of nieces and nephews and numerous grand fur babies.
The family deeply appreciates the loving care and protection provided by the staffs of the Chateaus at Montclair and St. Joseph Hospice.
Honoring Jane as pallbearers will be Lynn Craig, Billy Craig, Henry Hernandez, Aaron Redmon, Mark Thompson, and Chris Wooten.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Bill Blakely, Miles Hitchcock, A.C. Looney, Harold Moss, and Bill Steele.
