Janet Denise Fair

Janet Denise Fair was born on June 9, 1954, to James B. Fair and Garcia Lee Feazel Fair. She passed away on September 19, 2023, after a lengthy illness. She is preceded in death by her father and her companion Kathleen Richardson.

In her younger years, she was actively involved and excelled in sports. She graduated from Southwood High School in 1972. Afterwards graduating from LSU Shreveport with a degree in Social Services. Denise continued to further her education, graduating from LSU Baton Rouge with a master’s degree in Social Services. She began working for the state of Louisiana in Children and Family Services. Although Denise had no children of her own, she spent her entire career helping children and families through difficult times. She retired after 37 years as Deputy Secretary for Children and Family Services based in Baton Rouge. Denise was a big TIGER fan, loving all LSU sports! She also loved her New Orleans Saints, and watched the Monday night game before her passing!

Denise is survived by her mother, her sister, Patti Maniscalco (Joby), nieces; Holli Lewis (Eric), Casey Meshell, and Abbie Reynolds, great-niece, Cobey Meshell, great-nephews; Cole Lewis and Ace Black, and they all lovingly called her Aunt Nesee. She will be missed by her beloved cats, Louie and Twiggy!
