Janice Reachelle Summers

Janice Reachelle Summers was born on September 16, 1948 to Shelton Eugene Thornton and Patricia Mae Reckner in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana. 

Janice worked for Volunteers of America for many years and loved her clients. She worked very closely with them and would do anything she could to help them. She loved to sew and would spend many hours making many beautiful pieces. Janice loved her grandchildren dearly and enjoyed the time she spent with them. Her favorite companion was her sweet Lhasa Apso who kept her company for 18 years. Janice also had a soft spot for the feline kind as well, feeding the neighborhood cats.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; Patricia and Gene Thornton and husband, William Summers. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Fairbanks; sons, Duane Fairbanks and Robert Richardson; grandchildren, Caroline and Corbin Merritt, Zoey and Caleb Richardson, Helen, Emma, Henry and Thomas Fairbanks; step-children, David and Sharon Summers, William Summers, Robert Summers, Ruth Boyle and Joyce Henderson.
