Janie Lou Ward

Funeral services honoring the life of Janie Morrell Smith Ward will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Maple Springs Church in Logansport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Mary Smith and Reverend Dwain Smith. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. at Maple Springs Baptist Church in Logansport, Louisiana. Interment will be held at Longstreet Cemetery in Longstreet, Louisiana. Janie was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 21, 1939 to George Thomas Morrell and Garland Sample Morrell. She passed from this life on July 26, 2021 in Longstreet, Louisiana. She was a member of Maple Springs Baptist church and Logansport Alf Garrett #123 Order of the Eastern Star. She loved sewing and making Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls. She loved to travel out west and loved the Rocky Mountains, the ocean and lighthouses. She loved spending time with her family and watching the New Orleans Saints. She is proceeded in death by her parents; first husband, Melvin Smith; second husband, Keith Ward; sons, James Smith and Charles Smith. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Smith and husband Dwain of Beckville, Texas, Melba Rasmussen and husband Chris of Longstreet, Louisiana, Jane Elizabeth Rowe and husband Bryan of Tenaha, Texas; Son Robert Smith and wife Eva of Shiloh, Louisiana; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Honoring Janie as pallbearers will be Richard Farrington, Jacob Smith, Patrick Smith, Joshua Smith, Rickey Smith, Charles Smith, John Booker, Melvin Booker.
