(Jason is being cremated).

Jason Michael LaFlame, 42, was born on December 29, 1981, at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine. He was a 2000 graduate of Parkway High School in Bossier City, Louisiana, and a 2006 graduate of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana.

The three most important things in Jason’s life were God, family, and hockey. His passion for what he loved shone through in everything he did. He worked hard to be there whenever and wherever he was needed, always putting those around him first. He had the mindset that if he could help someone else, even just a little, everything would work out. He firmly believed in what he learned from his family: “Treat Everyone as You Want to Be Treated.”

One of the ways he came to know so many people in the community was through his 25 years at Bud’s Trophy Case. Jason truly believed that everyone who walked in the door was a new friend. Through the family business, he supported local schools, sports teams, and award presentations, first across the ArkLaTex and eventually around the world. Whether it was a first-place award or a trophy for a group of friends, he was willing to make every project unique and as meaningful as possible. Jason loved to create and try new things and was always finding new ways to improve the business he would eventually come to own.

Hockey was something Jason was committed to throughout his life. Whether playing, watching, coaching, or DJing, he wanted to be a part of it. He pushed not only himself but also those around him to become better. With his team the Turtles, in 2022 he won the bronze championship trophy at the annual Guns & Hoses Hockey Tournament, an achievement of which he was infinitely proud.

Jason was a devout Catholic and shared his faith whenever possible. He was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bossier City, Louisiana, which he joined in 2012. He was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a catechism teacher, and an active member of the NWLA ACTS community.

After a fifteen-month battle with stage IV colon cancer, Jason went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gordon and Muriel LaFlame; his maternal grandparents, Lionel and Laurianne Gagne; and a cousin, Peter Morin.

Jason is survived by his parents, Paul and Janice LaFlame; his wife, Heather Burney LaFlame; his daughter, Hannah Carter; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
