Jean Fountain passed away on June 15, 2017 in Baton Rouge, LA. Born July 10, 1926 in Gibsland, LA. Jean was married for 59 years to the late Troy Willie Fountain on September 22, 1946. She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, a sister, and her daughter-in-law Ginny Fountain. Jean is survived by her son Bill Fountain, daughter-in-law and best friend Robin Fountain, granddaughter Berry Fountain, Grandson Shawn Fountain, his wife Shannon and her great grandchildren Reece and Thatcher, three nephews David, Jim, and Joe Prothro and her niece Joann Prothro. She has numerous step granddaughters and grandsons. Her four legged puppy dog companion Gizmo will truly miss her.
Jean was a longtime member of Willow Point Baptist Church in Shreveport where she lived until 2014. She was known as the "rock star" of cooking and baking for her churches congregation. She served as an executive secretary for a number of petroleum companies in Shreveport and retired as the executive assistant to the plant manager of the Ford Battery Company.
A cemetery service (only) will be held on Monday June 19 at 9:30 AM at Forest Park Cemetery West. A brief service will be held by her Sunday school teacher and class. Pallbearers: Shawn Fountain, Berry Fountain, Reece Fountain, Thatcher Fountain, Jim Prothro, David Prothro, Joann Prothro, Patti Ford Rogers, Pam Ford Dubose, John Ford, Troy Ford, and Reagan Ford.
Fondly called Mama Jean (MJ) by her friends and relatives. She will be remembered for her lifelong kindness, loving spirit, happiness with life, and 90 wonderful years with us. Mama Jean now enjoys her place in Heaven with her lifelong husband and partner Papa Troy... We all are blessed and thank Mama Jean for the unending memories. Every person who met MJ throughout her life said how lovely and sweet she was. What a wonderful legacy, she will truly be missed.
