Jean was born February 9, 1934 in Little Rock, AR and passed away peacefully September 7, 2016. She had worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Horseshoe Casino. After her retirement in 2008 at age 74, she began volunteering with the American Red Cross. She had a gift for providing support to those in need. When she wasn't busy working with the Red Cross, she was getting ready for Mardi Gras season. She was a member of the Krewe of Centaur and loved parade days when she rode through town throwing beads and cups. She loved to scuba dive and said that God put his most beautiful creations under the sea. She believed you should dance through life and not stand on the sidelines. Jean was a loving Bible study sister and will be greatly missed. But the most important treasures in her life were her family. She was indeed the heart of the family and weekends centered around her.
Jean is survived by her son, Mark Christopher Lanier and wife, Kay of Bossier City, LA; daughters, Sue Lynn Johnson and husband, Lane of Bossier City, LA, Carol Ann Ayers and husband, Ray of Haughton, LA; brothers, Jerry Gardner and wife, Gayle, Dick Gardner and wife, Carol all of North Little Rock, AR; grandchildren, Christopher Allen, Melissa Ann Ayers, Tara Munn, Jessica Jean Lanier, Laura Leigh Breedlove and husband, Dusty, and Jennifer Merritt and husband, Jacob; great grandchildren, Nicholas Allen and Hunter Allen, Ryleigh Grace Merritt, Ryan Merritt, Emma Munn, Ella Munn and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her "sister", Beverly Coltharp and to Dr. Gary Burton and Cheryl Duncan, P.A. at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center.
