Jean Almond Poitras, Jr.

Our husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend, Jean Armand Poitras, born on September 10, 1952, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 6, 2015. Meeting him in heaven were his grandparents, Steve and Avis Woodall; his parents, Jean A., Sr. and Lola Poitras; his brother-in-law, Joseph D. Malmay, his nephew Michael Malmay; and his grandson, Nicholas Jinks. Jean spent his entire adult life in the service of his family and community as a police officer. He loved many and will be sorely missed by all who loved him. Jean is survived by his wife, Carolyn Poitras; brother, C.W. "Stoney" Burks and wife Joyce; sons, Steven Poitras, John Poitras and wife Ashley, Brandon Poitras, Randy Leone and Michael Leone; daughters, Terri Armitage and husband John; Renee Burkhart and husband Steve, April Poitras, Crystal Peeples, Angie Pearson and husband James; 25 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special grandchildren Michael Simon Leone and Destry Cane Leone; and special family friend Tina Lyons. Open visitation will be held Thursday, April 9 from 8am to 8pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport. Services will be held Friday, April 10 at 10am. Burial to follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Rd., Bossier City. Pallbearers will be: Charles Pilkinton; Steve Collier; Robert Ellis; Tim Anderson; LaRandle Taylor; and Jeremy Sunderland.
