SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Jean Killgore Rice, 94, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Kings Highway Christian Church in Shreveport. Interment will be held immediately following the service at Forest Park West Cemetery. Rev. David Brice will be officiating. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Jean was born on March 6, 1922 in Shreveport, LA and passed away on June 11, 2016. Jean always loved to dance. She graduated C.E. Byrd High school in 1938. Attended Northwestern State University, School of Management from 1966-1968. Jean took great pride in employment nearly all her adult life, and loved her work in office management. She was active in many Clubs and Professional Organizations: Executive Women International, Shreveport Rotary, Women's Department Club, American Business Women's Association, The Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Inc. Mesha Court #63, and Altrusa International. She was a life-long member of Kings Highway Christian Church, Member of Service Class (Sunday School), Diaconate (Deacon), and Disciple Women Ministry (Circle). Jean was preceded in death by husband, Hoke S. Rice, of KWKH radio fame "Rice Brothers Gang"; parents, Willis Benjamin, Sr. and Virginia Williams Killgore; five brothers and sisters, Dorothy Cloutier, Mary Panos, Bud Killgore, Louis Killgore and W.B. Killgore, Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Wheeler of Beaumont, TX, Patricia Reehlmann and husband Dr. Nelville Reehlmann, of Shreveport, LA; granddaughter, Devyn Mitchell and husband, Ryan of Beaumont, TX; grandson, Leon Lusk and wife, Teresa of McKinney TX; six great-grandchildren, Ian Mitchell, Zachary Mitchell and Rebecca Mitchell, Sarah Lusk, Aslan Lusk, Christian Mercado, and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials may be made to Kings Highway Christian Church, 806 Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA 71104. The family expresses special thanks to all the staff of Chateau at Montclaire and especially her caregivers. Jean was dearly loved and will be forever missed.
