Jean Thomas

Sibley, LA Funeral services for Jean Howell Thomas will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in Minden, Louisiana, with Rev. Tom Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin, Louisiana, under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana. The family will receive friends at 12 noon Saturday at the church. Jean was born August 14, 1943 in Bossier City, Louisiana, and entered into rest February 7, 2018 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Jean was an extraordinary self-taught artist. She spent much of her time living for her family, her church, her friends, and her Mardi Gras Krewe, "Krewe of Friends". Her spirit was unlike any other and will be missed by numerous friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Wayne Thomas, sister Sue Beckett, brothers, Leon Howell, Jimmy (Cat) Howell, and Raymond Howell. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Thomas of Sibley, sons, Rick Thomas and wife Stacey of Sibley, Robert Thomas and Kelly Johnson of Doyline, Duke Thomas and wife Cecilia of Natchitoches, and Roger Thomas of Sibley, daughters, Susan Whited of Haughton and Sheila Jones and husband Richard of Gibsland, sister, Hazel Karle of Erie, PA, sisters-in-law, Dottie Greene and husband Gary of Minden and Pam Cage of Shreveport, 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, half-brother James Blythe and wife Helen of Dubberly and nieces and nephews.
