Jereline “Sue” Adams went home to her Savior August 26, following complications from surgery. She was 88.
Sue was a native of Castor, Louisiana, and a graduate of Castor High School, but called Shreveport home for most of her adult life. She worked as an accountant for South Central Bell before becoming an office manager and Notary Public for medical practice, where her organization, skill, and kind demeanor elevated on-time appointments to a true art appreciated by hundreds of grateful patients.
Sue’s most joyous role, though, was as loving mother to her four sons and doting “Memaw” to her 14 grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. In her spare time, Sue could be found on the dance floor with her long-time partner and forever love, Harold Kempkes, who was faithfully at her side for over 23 years. Ballroom dancing was a passion for Sue and Harold, and their joy in dance and in each other was also a joy to others.
Sue was also passionate about spending time with her extended family and close friends, especially those in her dance club. She believed that every birthday at every age is special, so she never failed in sending cards, and family members were delighted to always receive just a little bit of “mad money” tucked into the card to make their day special.
Preceding her in death and joyfully receiving her in Heaven were her parents, Dyrel and Mabel Daniel; sister, Mary Meyers; brother, Ronnie Daniel, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Adams.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving partner, Harold Kempkes; sons, James Adams, David Adams and wife, Karen, Ricky Adams and wife, Ruth, Randy Adams and wife, Mary; sister, Ann McGee; grandchildren, Audrey Adams, Shauna Adams, Bryan Adams, Dani Adams-Barry and husband, Scott, Aimee Saulters and husband, Trey, Brannon Adams, Andrew Adams and wife, Penny, Erin Adams, Haley Adams, Harrison Adams, Emily Fort and husband, Blake, Taylor Adams, Nick Adams and Christopher Adams; greatgrandchildren, Gabrielle Saulters, Shelby Harper, Dawson Saulters and Olivia Adams, Devon, Jordan, Seth Eve, Ava, Silas, Elianna, Ethan, Elijah, Job and Lucas Stucker, Jace and Peyton Fort, Gage and Cru Barry; great-great-granddaughter. Amelia Martin; and her family of the heart, Harold's son, Mike Kempkes and wife, Audra and their daughters, Ashely and Hannah as well as numerous adored nieces and nephews.
A reception to remember Sue and the stories of her life will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, at the home of David and Karen Adams, 5709 Shoreline Drive in Shreveport. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Rose-Neath Southside, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at New Ebenezer Cemetery, 1860 LA Hwy. 153 in Castor, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to New Ebenezer Cemetery Fund, 160 Joiner Rd, Castor, LA 71016. If there’s a ballroom in Heaven, Sue, we’ll meet you there one day. Until then, we hope you dance on streets of gold.
