Funeral services were held for Mr. Jerry Wayne Dillard, age 80, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1993 Hwy 3062, Homer, LA, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Steve Beard, officiated. Interment was at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA. Visitation was at the church from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service.

 

Mr. Dillard was born August 1, 1942, in Hurricane, LA, to William H. Dillard, Sr. and Bessie L. Ashcraft Dillard. He entered into rest on Monday, May 8, 2023, in Homer, LA. Mr. Dillard graduated from Athens High School in 1960. He served the country he loved in the Army National Guard from 1961-1967 during the Vietnam War. Mr. Dillard worked for the Sanitary Dairy as a milkman for eighteen years. He was the owner and operator of Dillard’s Grocery in the Arizona Community. Mr. Dillard was employed by the Homer National Bank, Toney Johnson Real Estate Agency, Kilpatrick Life Insurance Company, and Rose-Neath Funeral Home over the years. He liked hunting, fishing, watching sports especially Texas Rangers, LSU’s football and baseball. Mr. Dillard served his Lord and Savior at Calvary Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 46 years and served as Sunday School director, as well as, Church Treasurer. Throughout his life, he read his Bible daily. He loved his church and church family dearly. Mr. Dillard was a very loving father and will be greatly missed.  

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Roxanne Dillard and Stefanee Spurlock; four siblings, Bill Dillard, Jr., Howard Dillard, Rex Dillard, and Doris Pickens.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of over 61 years, Judy C. Pixley Dillard; daughter, Jennifer Corbitt; son, Jeffrey Dillard; nine grandchildren, Jessica Brown, Justin Brown and wife Kristen, Chelle Brown and husband De, Stetson Dillard and wife Brooke, Clason Dillard, Cheyenne Spurlock and fiance' Carlie, Callie Spurlock and fiance' Joseph, Hayden McLendon and wife Brittany and Jacey Corbitt; twelve great-grandchildren, Zoe, McKayla, Adisyn, Rocky, Marlee, Denver, Gavin, Cason, Reyd, Josiah, Jayden and Kai; along numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Mr. Dillard’s family would like to express their gratitude to Claiborne Memorial Medical Center’s doctors and staff, as well as, the home health care nurse, Shelley Allen, for the care and compassion given him.

 

Pallbearers were Stetson Dillard, Cheyenne Spurlock, Hayden McLendon, Justin Brown, Clason Dillard, and Gavin Spurlock.

 

In lieu of flowers honoring Mr. Dillard, his family suggests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church or donor’s choice.
