Jerry Lynn Dixon, 66, of Shreveport, Louisiana entered into eternal rest on July 10, 2023. He was born on November 8, 1956 in Shreveport to James B Dixon and Hazel Mattie Dye Dixon.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana 71118. Officiating the service will be Minister Leon Walker. Interment will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery. Honoring Jerry as pallbearers will be Terry Dixon, Kyle Washburn, Dillon Austin, Tanner Austin, Damian Austin, and Ricky Washburn.
Jerry was preceded in death by his grandson, Jarrod Tauzin; mother, Hazel Dye; father, James Dixon; brother, Richard Dixon; and his dogs, Taz, Blue, Precious, and Hemi. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Dixon; daughters, April Shrader and Kelley Huck; stepsons, Kyle Washburn, Dillon, Tanner, and Damian Austin; grandchildren, Amelia, Alyssa, Pyper, Kenzlie, Keatyn, Kaysen, Grayson, Arianna, Kaiden, Aubri, Lana, and EJ; siblings, Sandra Easley and Terry Dixon; mother-in-law, Connie Posey; brothers-in-law, Mike Washburn and wife Pam and Ricky Washburn and wife Denice; and sister-in-law, Tina Washburn.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, papaw, and brother. He wasn’t always an easy man, but he had a big heart. He started working in the steel industry at 15 sweeping floors and worked his way up to Estimator. He was always busy, whether it was drawing and bidding jobs, cooking, gardening, and building or helping his family with projects. He was an amazing cook who showed his love through food, some of which he grew himself. He cooked for his dogs, family, friends, and events. Everyone wanted to be at his house for the holidays. He was a meticulous planner and wizard at math. He enjoyed reading, Sci-Fi, gardening, playing pool, Alabama football, and just being outdoors.
Jerry Dixon did not have a fake bone in his body. He said what he meant and was respected all the more for it. He didn’t care what anyone thought, he was fearless in that way. Most of all, he was happy and loved. He fought to stay with us in the end and was taken far too soon. There will never be another man like him. We love you now and always.
