Jerry was born on June 23, 1946 in Somerset, KY. At 18 years of age Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. At the age 30, Jerry's pursuit of happiness found him becoming the owner of his own business, Hislope Pipeline Construction, Inc., which contracted and laid most natural gas lines throughout the ArkLaTex and Midwest. He also owned the establishments, Madden's Corner and Fat Albert's, that were both located in Bossier City, LA. Retiring after 30 years, Jerry bought and restored the old Keithville VFW and renamed it the Southside Saloon. Jerry sadly passed away on July 28, 2014 in Shreveport, LA. The compassion and love throughout Jerry's life gave him the opportunity to touch the lives of countless others. And though survived by four sons, no one will ever know the true number of Jerry's kids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Dorthy Hislope and infant brother. He is survived by his sons: James Hislope, Kenneth Hislope, Cody Hislope, Richard Hislope and wife, Sarah; granddaughter, Kaely Hislope.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Moudy, Michael Vanveckhoven, Freddrick Potts, Shad Baggett and Donnie Meacham. Honorary pallbearers are Evette Rothell and Shirley McCaslin.
Memorials may be made to the Jerry L. Hislope Memorial Fund at any Capital One Bank.
