BOSSIER CITY, LA - A memorial service for Jerry David Orton, 70, will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Dale Welch of United Pentecostal Church in Haynesville. Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m.
Jerry was born August 13, 1945 in Pine Bluff, AR to Charles W. Orton and Betty Gahmon Orton and died September 23, 2015 in Bossier City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a truck driver for YRC for 42 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wayne Orton and Chuck Orton.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Gwenda Orton; stepsons, Alan Greer and wife, Autumn, Richard Greer and wife, Stacey; daughters, Kathryn Orton and partner, Leisha Fortenberry, Mary West and husband, James and Linda Moore; grandchildren, Jarrett and Brianna Stewart, Joshua and Blake Delk, Jr. and Ethan Moore; step grandchildren, Kortney, Layne, Maddie, Luke, Ali and Grayson Greer; sisters, Charlene Carpenter and husband, George, Vicki Cameron, Marla Mitchell and husband, Steve, Teresa Cook and friend, Charles Tyer; brother, Carl Orton and wife, Judy and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or to donor's choice.
