Jerry Wayne Weems

Funeral services honoring the life of Jerry Wayne Weems, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Rose-Neath's Chapel in Mansfield, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Matthew Emfinger. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the Rose-Neath's Chapel in Mansfield, Louisiana. Interment will be held at Highland Cemetery in Mansfield, Louisiana. Jerry was born on May 25, 1941, in Bastrop, Louisiana to Aubrey Leroy Weems and Allie Ruth Hudson Weems. He entered into eternal rest on July 13, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. At a young age Jerry had recognized a strong desire for the things of God and a calling into ministry. He pastored his first congregation at the age of seventeen and continued his education at Southwestern Assemblies of God University. He served as a pastor in various places for over fifteen years and was an extraordinary pianist and often showed his love for God through his music. He later went on to co-own a nursing agency with Billy Emfinger. He lived in Dallas, Houston, and later retired in Mansfield. Jerry enjoyed food and fellowship with his family and was a wonderful granddaddy who never missed an opportunity to show his love and support by leaving an encouraging comment on their Facebook post. Those closest to him knew that he was clever and funny and was never afraid to "ask for the manager." Preceding him are his parents, Aubrey and Allie Weems; infant brother, Aubrey Eugene Weems; brother, Thomas H. Weems. He is survived by his son, Wayne Weems and wife Janafer of Rome, Georgia; daughter, Tonya F. Weems of Mesa, Arizona; sister, Virginia Evans and husband Jerry Don of Mansfield, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Shirley Weems of Mansfield, Louisiana; grandchildren, Emily and Isaac Weems; life-long friend, Billy Emfinger; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Honoring Jerry as pallbearers will be Isaac Weems, Will Mcleod, Zach Mcleod, Steve Wilson, Mark Evans, Eddie Gallaspie, Harold Battle, Leigh Walters. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Don Evans, Eddie James, and Jaime Sherrell.
