Jerry T. White

HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mr. Jerry T. White, 76, at the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA, on Monday, December 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Larry Sellers, officiating. Interment followed at Tulip Cemetery in Marsalis, LA. The family received friends at funeral home on Monday from 10-11, prior to the service. Jerry was born November 12, 1941, in Marsalis, LA, to Virgil F. and Mila Cook White. He entered into rest on Friday, December 15, 2017 in Homer. Jerry worked on the family dairy farm until 1959, when he began working for Don, his brother, building homes. He then went into business for himself, as Jerry White Builders in 1974. Through the years, Jerry built many of the area's most recognizable homes for many special families. People have always been able to identify a "Jerry White" home on sight. Throughout his years of farming, National Guard service, and building, his gift of music never faltered. Through this gift, Jerry brought much joy to many family and friends. He was an active member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Gideon's International Claiborne Chapter. Jerry's family and faith were always his greatest concern and source of happiness. He will be dearly missed. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred Noble White, Don S. White and Buddy White; and two infant daughters. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patsy Bowden White; a daughter, Lisa Reeder and husband Kerry; three grandchildren, Trent, Colton, and Olivia; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Jeff Maddox, Johnny Whittington, Bobby White, Clint White, Mickey Harmon and Floyd Burns. Honorary pallbearer were his nephews, Mike White, Tommy White, Richard White, Rusty White and Cody White, as well as the Men's Sunday School Class of Rocky Springs Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers honoring Jerry, his family suggests memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association, Claiborne Academy or American Cancer Society.
