Funeral Services for Jerry A. Whittington, 74, will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive Bossier City, Louisiana, at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. This service will be followed by a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Road, Keithville, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Carlton Gilmer.
Jerry was born at Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City October 21, 1949, to Lessie and EG Whittington Jr. and peacefully departed on Friday, November 10, 2023, due to natural causes at his home in Shreveport, Louisiana.
While living in Honolulu, Hawaii Jerry graduated from Radford High School before joining the US Army. After joining the Army, he began to follow his passion for aviation and pursued his dreams of becoming a helicopter pilot. A devoted Army veteran, he served with honor and dedication. He will be remembered for his many jokes and stories, strength, kindness, and the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him.
Jerry leaves behind a legacy as a loving father and cherished grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, E.G. and Lessie Whittington; and brother John Whittington. Left to cherish his memory are his children; Gary Whittington and (spouse, Stacy Whittington of Corona, California, Cora Chairez-Carter and spouse, Mel Chairez-Carter of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren, Ariel Whittington and fiancé, Frank Kamerer-White of Haughton, Louisiana, Caitlyn Ruiz and spouse, Fernando Ruiz of Kaiserslautern Germany, and Colin Whittington of Corona, California; sibling Paul Whittington; his companion, Anne Castie of Shreveport, Louisiana, Gary’s mother Ruth Darnell and spouse, Roy Darnell of Haughton, Louisiana; special cousin Teresa Whittington-Bailey and spouse, Phil Bailey of Meridian, Mississippi, and many great-grandchildren that he dearly loved.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Paul Whittington, Colin Whittington, Fernando Ruiz. Steve Roberts, Roy Darnell, and Phil Bailey.
May he rest in eternal peace.
