Jim Bob White, Jr. was born in Shreveport, LA on October 25, 1922 and died September 21, 2018. He was the son of Jim Bob White, Sr. and Laura Patterson White. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Broadmoor Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 12 noon. Officiating will be Dr. Larry Williams. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery.
Mr. White was a graduate of Byrd High School and Centenary College of Louisiana and was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. White flew forty missions as a bombardier in the Southwest Pacific. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters. He was also stationed in California during the Korean War.
In 1948 he married Mattie Roquemore and was employed at Texas Eastern Corporation from which he retired in 1983. He was a longtime devoted member of Broadmoor Baptist Church.
Mr. White is survived by his wife, Mattie, daughter, Martha Susan White, and son, Stephen "Mal" White and wife Carol. Grandchildren and Step-Grandchildren include Robyn Eubank Slye and husband, Chris, Ellen Eubank, Stuart Newman and wife Stephanie, and Gordon Newman and wife Theresa. Great-Grandchildren include Rylee and Thomas Slye, Graham, Arabella, Ellie, William, Oliver, and Marcus Newman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe or charity of choice.
