Jimmie H. Phillips was born on February 14, 1940 to Jimmie Phillips and Jessie Hackworth in Village Mills, Texas and passed from this life on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in Zwolle, Louisiana at the age of 84.
Jimmie was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Carole Ann & Cynthia Lanett Phillips; his mother, Jessie and husband, T.J. Lewing; father, Jimmie and wife, Jewell Phillips; sister, Thelma Anthony and husband, Robert Lee; brother, Delma Ray “Buck” Phillips; sister-in-law, Mari Beth Phillips, and brother-in-law, Raymond Remedes.
Survivors include his son, Michael Shaun Phillips of Pineville, LA; one grandson, Caleb Patrick Phillips; stepchildren, Darren and Angela Kerry, brother, Douglas “Shorty” Phillips and friend Kay of Keithville, LA, sisters, Barbara Remedes of Zwolle, LA, Sue Lovitt and husband Mark of Many, LA, and Debbie Britt of Zwolle, LA. Jimmie is also survived by 9 nephews, Gene, Glenn, and Kevin Phillips, Tony, Thomas, Tim, Terry, Trent, and Ryan Anthony; 1 niece, Renee Anthony Jones; and their spouses, children and grandchildren, several step nieces and nephews and their families, and a host of friends and other family members.
Jimmie was an avid boat racer; known as Mr. Clean wherever he went. He raced for 14 years, winning the 175-stock championship 4 years in a row. He also won 5 championships in the modified class. He will always be remembered as a fan of basketball games, traveling all over to watch a game and making himself at home in all the hospitality rooms at tournaments. He never missed a state basketball tournament until this last year due to declining health. Wherever he went, he had the same seat at every game; it was just a given that you did not sit there, it was Jimmie’s seat. Jimmie loved the Lord and his church family at First Baptist Church in Zwolle, where he ran the sound board for any service or occasion at the church.
A memorial service for Jimmie will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Zwolle, with Brother Marty Williams officiating. A burial will be held at Many Cemetery.
