Services for Jimmie Ray Ranger, 78, will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Reverend Jeff Joyner.
Jimmie was born on November 4, 1946, to Albert Manuel and Mary Magdlina Rivers Ranger in Shreveport, Louisiana, and passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Jimmie received his GED and enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17. He spent over 30 years in the printing industry with Castle Printing Company. After leaving the printing company, he went to work for Willis Knighton Health System on Greenwood Road in Shreveport, Louisiana, in the purchasing department for six and a half years and then retired. Since he was not a man to sit still, upon retirement, he worked part-time for Morgan Buick, delivering and picking up vehicles from south Louisiana and Texas.
Jimmie was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Sportsman’s Paradise Bass Club. He won and placed in many fishing tournaments over the years. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR; his all-time favorite driver was Mark Martin. Jimmie enjoyed watching NFL football, particularly the Washington Redskins, and watching golf as well. He loved reading his favorite newspaper, The Times, and was a man full of information. Jimmie was known for his “nub fingers” on his right hand, and if you were ever a child around him, you understand exactly what that means!
Most importantly, Jimmie was a believer in Christ, and though we will miss him all the days of our lives, we take comfort in knowing that he has already discovered the largest fishin' hole in Heaven!
Jimmie was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Magdlina Rivers Ranger; father, Albert Manuel Ranger; and stepmother, Nadine Ranger. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marjorie Sue Anderson Ranger; daughters, Stacy Watson Joyner and husband, Jeff, Gina Durst Garcia, Margaret Murray and husband Paul, and Rebecca Durst Taravella and husband Chris; sisters, Patsy Ranger Higdon, Mary Ranger Stewart; brother, Manuel Albert Ranger; brother, Gaddis Otto Ranger and wife, Dianne, along with his special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law on his wife’s side of the family; one uncle, Lewis Ranger; grandchildren, Stephanie Adams, Lyndsey Mattson, Hayley Murray, DeAnza Durst, Richard Anthony Garcia, Jr., Jimmy Durst, Jessica DeLeon, Ryan Taravella, and Vincent Taravella and many precious great-grandchildren.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Blane Murray, Turner Mattson, Jimmy Durst, Ryan Taravella, Richard Anthony Garcia, Jr., Vincent Taravella, and James Higdon.
