SHREVEPORT, LA - Our beloved Jimmy Dale Cash went to be with our heavenly father on Sunday, September 6, 2015. Jimmy was born on December 16, 1936 in New Hope, Alabama and grew up in Huntsville, Alabama.
Upon high school graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force and served our country in the Korean War. While stationed at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, LA, he met his wife Lynda Faye Thames Cash. They were married 54 years until her death in 2012.
After honorable discharge from USAF he attended LSU Baton Rouge and graduated in 1963 with a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering. During his career he worked for Boeing and NASA and was an engineer on the design teams for Saturn V, Apollo, Sky Lab, the F-111 fighter jet, and the Boeing 747. He retired from the Foxboro Company. While raising five children, Jimmy and Lynda lived all across the United States from Seattle, WA to Cocoa Beach, FL and many points in between before returning to the Shreveport area to be closer to family.
His hobbies were inventing, tinkering and fixing just about anything from cars and household appliances to computers. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Lynda Thames Cash, his parents Fred and Grace Cash; and his son Todd Kevin Cash. He is survived by two sons, Gary Cash and wife, Susan, and Jeff Cash; two daughters, Cynthia Minor and husband, Todd, Angela Hooker and husband, Phillip and daughter-in-law, Candy Cash. He is also survived by one brother, Phillip Cash and wife, Peggy of Winchester, TN.
He leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren: Amy Gaskin, Mandie Cash, Kristin Gills, Trey Cash, Emily Warren, Ethan Cash, Carol Cash, Kayleigh Cash, Josh Minor, Amber Minor, Jimmy Minor and Logan Hooker. Also, great-grandchildren; Katelyn Gaskin, Jackson Gaskin, Brandon Gills, Braydon Gills, Boston Gills, Brody Gills and Beckham Gills.
Services to honor Mr. Cash will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September10, 2015 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the services from 12-2 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Drive. Dennis Wayne Aaron, pastor of "The Cowboy Church" Open Range Fellowship in Greenwood, LA will be officiating. Graveside services will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews, Trey Cash, Ethan Cash, Josh Minor, Jimmy Minor, Logan Hooker, Steven Gaskin, Rusty Thames and Tim Thames.
The Cash Family would like to thank the staff and residents of The Oaks of Louisiana who were his dear friends and extended family for the past 7 years.
