Lisbon, LA: Funeral services will be held for Jimmy Leigh McDonald, 68, at the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Larry Sellers, officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Springs Cemetery in Lisbon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5-7 p.m.
Mr. McDonald was born March 13, 1946 in Homer to Doyle and Irene Bailey McDonald. He entered into rest Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Willow Ridge Nursing Home in Arcadia following a short illness. Mr. McDonald was a graduate of LA Tech and taught at Haughton High School for several years before becoming a logging contractor and truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and operating heavy equipment.
Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his parents; also his wife, Jackie Bennett McDonald; 1 daughter, Jennifer L. McDonald; 1 sister, Yvonne Gibbs and 1 brother, William "Bud" McDonald.
He is survived by 2 sisters, Louise McDonald of Shreveport and Jane Haire and husband, Melvin of Bossier City; sister-in-law, Gwen McDonald of Shreveport; 1 brother, Joe E. McDonald and wife, Jeanette of Shreveport; step-son, Billy Hardy and Kim of Lisbon; 2 step-grandsons, David and Shawn Hardy; also his dog, Annie, 7 nieces, 2 nephews and numerous great-nieces and great- nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Gaston, Dennis Gaston, Johnny Miller, Mike Johnson, Ronnie Volentine and Ken Heard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tunis Gaston, Billy Rich, Byron White and Steve Wilson.
For friends considering memorials honoring Mr. McDonald, his family suggests the Rocky Springs Cemetery Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
