Jimmy Rueal Raye of Shreveport, LA passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Northwest Louisiana War Veteran's Home peacefully. He was born in Shreveport, LA on March 12, 1929 to Gladys Opal and J.T. Raye of Shreveport, LA. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Bernice Murphy Raye and two daughters, Cathey Ann Weaver (Loy F.) of Homer, LA and Paula Sue Thomas of Homer, LA. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Holly Nicole Nash (Regan) of Springhill, LA and Jonathon Cole Thomas of Shreveport, LA. He also has a great grandchild, Claire Nash. He is also survived by numerous and loving step grandchildren. Jimmy graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport, LA in 1946. He joined the Marine Corp Reserves and was called into Active Duty in November of 1950. He was in the First Marine Division, 7th Marine in the Chosin Reservoir area of North Korea who today are referred to The Chosin Few. He was awarded the Purple Heart and a Presidential citation. He was a Past Master of the Fair Park Masonic Lodge in Shreveport and was a member of the El Karuba Shriners in Shreveport. Pallbearers are Mike Feltz of Ft. Collins, CO, Mark Smith of Vinton, LA, Regan Nash of Springhill, LA, Joe Heckel of Homer, LA, Hunter Heckel of Homer, LA, Ralph Thomas of Keithville LA, Rodney Hill of Houston, TX and Carl Morgan of Shreveport, LA.
