Jimmy F Walker

STANLEY, LA--Services for Jimmy Frank Walker, 62, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Stanley, La. The family will receive visitors at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church until service time. Officiating will be his pastor, the Reverend Richard Tull. Jimmy passed away peacefully Thursday night at his home after losing his battle with cancer. Jimmy was a quiet, gentle man but was an adventurer at heart. He loved to travel and explore new places. He worked the coffee bean plantations in Mexico and eventually made his way to the Yukon in Alaska. He also loved the water and had a lifelong dream of sailing around the world in his sail boat. Unfortunately, it was a dream that never came to fruition. Jimmy was an avid gardener and loved raising heirloom vegetables and sharing them with others. From the time he was just a small boy he loved raising chickens. He kept his family and friends supplied with fresh eggs until he was no longer able to care for his hen house. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Elsie Walker and his brother, Edwin Earl Walker. He is survived by his wife, Wera Elizabeth "Liz" Walker; daughter, Jennifer Walker; daughter, Chrystal Thompson and husband Arthur; son, Joshua Walker and wife Sarah; daughter, Ann Icenhower and husband Tim; daughter Mary Paul and husband Jim and son Laroy Culpepper and fiance' Vanessa. He had fifteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild with another great grandchild due to arrive in December. Jimmy is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Spencer Stewart, sister-in-law Becky Longino and extended family and friends. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the members of his church, Mt. Olivet Baptist, for all the love and support that was given during his illness, to WKHS Hospice and especially to Terry and Annette Burns who proved to be the "most special" of friends. Pallbearers will be Joshua Walker, Arthur Thompson, Laroy Culpepper, Seth Stewart, Spencer Stewart, Terry Burns, Gary McMillon, and Phillip Joyner. "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 NKJV
