Funeral services for Joan Hartgrove Hassell, 92, of Bossier City, will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Dr. Derrick Hill.
Joan was born on December 25, 1930, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She lived in Shreveport for a short time as a child but spent the majority of her life in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Joan graduated from Bossier High School in 1947. Shortly after high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Gene Hassell. She spent 63 loving years by her husband’s side until his passing on January 29, 2014. She was a member of Fellowship Methodist Church in Bossier City where she enjoyed friendships from her church. Joan was a very kind and gentle lady, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was grateful to have her daughter, Ramona, live with her for the past several years. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was blessed to have a very long and happy life.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Hassell; grandmother, Addie Brown; mother, Theda Coppedge and husband, Charles; father, Joe Hartgrove and wife, Gladys and sister, Ramona Coppedge. She is survived by her brother, Charles Coppedge; daughter, Ramona Stewart; son, Bubba Hassell and wife, Patricia; grandchildren, Joe Shannon Stewart, Robin Weiland and Ashley Wynn and great-grandchildren, Trenton and Kason Weiland and Hunter, Tinley and Hudson Wynn.
Honoring Joan as pallbearers will be Jerry Juneau, Evan Weiland, Tim Wynn, Joe Stewart, Paul Hight and Trenton Weiland.
The family would like to express special thanks to the nurses and staff at Colonial Oaks Rehabilitation Center and Willis-Knighton Pierremont for the care and compassion that was given to Joan and her family.
