BENTON, LA - A Mass of Christian Burial for Joanne Z. Fulco, will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Benton, LA. Officiating will be Monsignor Earl Provenza, V.F. of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery, Bossier City, LA. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Vigil, on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City.
Joanne was born December 19, 1930 in Shreveport, LA and passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and loved ones, on July 14, 2015. She was full of life and spent her time taking care of her family and her grandchildren to whom she was known as "Mamaw". She was the true heart and matriarch of the family.
She was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy. She married her loving husband, V.J. on August 7, 1949 in Shreveport, LA where they lived for many years. They celebrated 65 happy, joyous years together and raised four children.
Mrs. Fulco was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Charles Zimmerman, Sr. and Alberta Elsessor Zimmerman; sisters, Regina Fulco, Rita Daigle and Florence Daniels.
Mrs. Fulco is survived by her husband, V.J. Fulco; sons, David Fulco and wife, Peggy, Randy Fulco, Jeff Fulco and wife, Karen; daughter, Karen Tubbs and husband, Jess; grandchildren, Wendy Walston, Cindy Hill, Kristen Sullivan, Kara Jenkins, Holden Fulco and Grayson Fulco; great grandchildren, Wyatt Walston, Savannah Walston, Erik Sullivan, Ryan Sullivan, Jacob Hill, John Sullivan, Jr., Ian Sullivan, Eli Hill; brothers, Joseph Zimmerman, Jr. and Raymond Zimmerman, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her very loving spirit.
The family of Mrs. Fulco would like to give special thanks to her loving caregivers, Daphne Huber and Hannah Eversole, that took such wonderful care of her during her final years.
Honoring Mrs. Fulco as pallbearers will be Holden Fulco, John Sullivan, Sr., Ray Zimmerman, Jr., John Fulco, Michael Fulco and Greg Fulco. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Walston, Cole Hill and Brian Jenkins.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association.
