SHREVEPORT, LA - A memorial service for Joanne Selber Vedlitz, 94, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at B'nai Zion Congregation, 245 Southfield Rd., Shreveport, LA 71105. Officiating will be Rabbi Dr. Jana L. DeBenedetti.
Joanne was born February 25, 1920 in Shreveport, LA and passed away November 12, 2014. She was a life-long resident of Shreveport. Joanne had a zest for living and enjoyed an active and full life.
Joanne is preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Sam Vedlitz; parents, Isidore and Lottie Feld Selber; and brother, Irving Selber.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Leonard Vedlitz and wife, Julie; daughter, Jean Mazvinsky and husband Norman; grandchildren, Andrew, Julie and husband, Ricardo; Zachary, Michael and wife, Leslie; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Alex, David and Hannah.Joanne leaves behind several cousins and a sister-in-law, who shared a lifetime together, Nancy and Bernard Goldstein, Marilyn and Alvin Golman, Don Kahan, Susie Miller, Muriel Folloder Phillips, Rachel and Mandel Selber Jr., Marianne and Leonard Selber, Flo Selber and all of her nieces and nephews.
She loved her family and all of her friends and customers that she served for many years at the family's store, Selber Bros.
A special thanks to Margaret Williams, her friend for over 30 years and to all the staff and caregivers of Village Health care at the Glen.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to charity of donor's choice.
