Graveside services will be held for Joe "Billy" Floyd, age 87, at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Arcadia Cemetery. Rev. John Lord will officiate.
Joe Billy Floyd was born October 22, 1930, in Wetumpka, AL to William and Lucille Floyd. He passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home. Billy left High School to join the Air Force, where he proudly served during World War II where he earned the Korean Service Medal with 28 stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Presidential Unit Citation. After the war, Billy worked in the oil field as a Company Man until his retirement. Billy enjoyed working in the yard and his garden. He was always willing to do work for others. He was an avid Northwestern Demons basketball fan, and enjoyed talking about his favorite coach, and nephew, Mike McConathy.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Lucille Floyd, brother Jacky Floyd, brother-in-law John McConathy, and his special friend Oleen Shively.
He is survived by his son Jerry Floyd, granddaughter Jennifer Floyd, grandson Jarred Floyd, great granddaughters Ryleigh Messina and Cali Floyd, sisters Corene McConathy and Dianne Jones and husband Bobby, by very special friends, Joe Lynn and Pam Browning and their extended family, and by numerous nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
