Joe Lawrence Nickle, 52, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021, in Shreveport, Louisiana after a two-month-long struggle with COVID. His son, Cameron Nickle, and Cameron's fiancé, Ashley, were with him.
Joe was born on January 26, 1969, the middle child of The Reverend Dyson Venn Nickle, Sr. and Jane Routh Nickle in Longview, Texas. He was a 1987 graduate of Center High School in Center, Texas. Over the years he has worked as an EMT, photographer, insurance salesman, limo driver, oil rig repairman, and train conductor. He was best known as FotoJoe, everyone's favorite photographer. He has taken pictures for schools, beauty queens, sports teams, celebrities, concerts, weddings, Air Shows, and more.
Joe loved spending time with family and friends. Anyone who met him knows that Joe's personality would command the room. He was warm and inviting and made everyone feel like they were family. He was a phenomenal storyteller and comedian. Joe never met a stranger. He could turn even a stranger's bad day into a joyous one. And, if you talked with Joe very long, you would know that his pride and joy is his son, Cameron Alexander Nickle, Ph.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents, The Reverend Dyson Venn Nickle, Sr., Jane Routh Nickle, and the love of his life, his dog, Bailey. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Cameron Alexander Nickle, and fiancé, Ashley Daniello; brother, Dyson Nickle, Jr. and wife, Lena, and their family; and sister, Pynne Floresca, and husband, Mike, and their family.
An abundance of thanks goes out to all the wonderful people that visited Joe and supported him during his illness. We were so blessed to have such an outpouring of generosity, love, and prayers. The family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.
