The family will have a visitation for Mr. Lonny Joe Padgett, age 81, at First Baptist Church of Haynesville, LA, on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 5-7 p.m.
Joe was born July 18, 1942, in Princeton, IN, to Albert L. Padgett and Helen Howe. He entered into rest on January 31, 2024, in Haynesville, LA. Joe had a lifetime career in the oilfield and gas industry where he lived in McAllen, TX, as well as Haynesville, LA. He could build anything because his hobbies included leather crafts, wood working, welding, and taxidermy work. Joe enjoyed gardening where he could produce enough produce to share with family, friends or whoever came along. He served as the local meat processor for family and close friends. Joe will be greatly missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father, John Wesley Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judy Hatfield Padgett; two sons, Keith Padgett and wife Lauribeth and Doug Padgett, all of Haynesville, LA; two step-daughters, Sherri Douglas of Kenwood, TX, and Christi Ford of Austin, TX; brother, Tom Smith and wife Barbara of Boerne, TX; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as a niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Joe’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Abshire, Heritage Nursing Center, Bristol Hospice, Claiborne Memorial Medical Center, and Ruston Regional Rehab, along with their staffs for the care and compassion given him during his final days.
In lieu of flowers honoring Joe, his family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 2021 Main Street, Haynesville, LA 71038.
