SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral services for Joe K. Pitts, 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Brother B.J. Maddox. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Friday June 27, 2014 at the funeral home. Joe was born on July 2, 1934 in Coushatta, LA and passed away on June 23, 2014. He was a resident of Shreveport and retired as Superintendent of Swift Packing Co. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Rose Park Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Lola Irene Pitts; brothers, Henry, JR, and Leon Pitts; sisters, Mary Sue Lindsay and Nancy Carolyn Jackins. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jean Nelson Pitts; daughters, Barbara Jo Barnett, Charlotte Ann Brasfield and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Susan Barnett, Jacob Brasfield, and Rebekah Brasfield; siblings, Lealon McCaslin, Gertrude Cloud, Shirley King and husband, Fred and Peggy Henry.
