John Richard Barfield

A memorial service for J. R. \"Dick\" Barfield, age 84 will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday. October 6, 2018 at the Mooringsport United Methodist Church with Rev. Robbin Haley officiating.

Dick was born March 8, 1934 in Corpus Christi, TX to H. G. Barfield and Viola Wilgus Barfield and passed away on September 21, 2018 in The Woodlands, TX after a brief illness. He graduated from Mooringsport High School, served in the US Army, received B.S. in Engineering from University of Houston, and MBA from University of Chicago. Dick worked at UOP for 39 years as Chief Engineer, Plant Manager and VP of Manufacturing and Purchasing at the Shreveport, McCook, and DesPlaines locations.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles, and sister and brother-n-law, Margaret and Harold Moore. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ronnie Guess Barfield of The Woodlands, TX; son, J. R. (Jill) Barfield, Jr. of Austin, TX.; daughters, Debra Barfield of Gilbert, AZ, Nancy (Fred) Nickl of Schaumburg, IL, Susan (Douglas) Hennessy of Lantana, TX and Linda (Mauricio) Gutierrez of Brentwood, CA; sister, Esther (Robert) Laidlaw of Calgary, Canada. Dick is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Don(Mitch) Guess of Dianna, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
