John "Johnny" Arthur Blunt of Grand Cane, LA went home to be with the Lord peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Visitation will be Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA from 5:00 PM till 9:00 PM. Celebration of life will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Stanley, LA with Rev. Kathy Fitzhugh and Rev. Richard L. Tull officiating. Graveside will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Grand Cane, LA.
Johnny was born June 24, 1943 in Grand Cane, LA to Lawrence and Pearl Blunt. He and his brother Bubba owned and operated Blunt Lumber Co.; a trade passed on to them by their father. He will be remembered as a successful businessman and farmer who had a deep love of land and cows. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was full of life, full of knowledge, always smiling and never met a stranger. He had an infectious laugh and wonderful sense of humor. He always had a good story to tell to anyone who would listen. You would always know when Johnny entered the room. From the time he was a young boy he loved to work and he worked till God called him home. His love of the farm and his strong work ethic will live on through his boys and grandkids, whom he cherished.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Pearl Blunt.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Linda; his three sons, John Blunt Jr. and wife Laura, Jason Blunt and wife Becky, Jeremy Blunt and special friend Jessica; nine grandchildren, Whitney Wright and husband Ryan, Brittany, Megan, Cash, Serah and Deven Blunt, and Amanda Hill, Blake and Caroline Lawrence; two great grandchildren, Rylynn and Bailiegh Wright; brothers, Bubba Blunt and wife Sandra, Jimmy Blunt, and Jerry Blunt; sisters, Frances Scruggs and husband Joe, Linda Owens and husband Arnold and Deborah Meisner; his baby girl, Rosebud; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Honoring the life of Johnny as pallbearers will be John Blunt, Jr., Jason Blunt, Jeremy Blunt, Deven Blunt, Cash Blunt, Colin Broadus, Lawrence Blunt and Connie Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Whitney Wright, Brittany, Megan, and Serah Blunt, Amanda Hill, Max Upchurch, Don Higgs, Kerry Duke, Joey Register and Craig Register.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Joyce Feagin and her nurses, Melanie and Gloria, and also Superior Hospice of Mansfield.
