John A. Bridges

Funeral services for Mr. John Bridges will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Mariah United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, At Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Arcadia. Burial will follow at Mt. Mariah Cemetery.

John was born November 30, 1928, in Bienville Parish, Louisiana to Franklin and Johnnye Jordan Bridges. He entered into rest on May 7, 2023, in Arcadia, Louisiana.

John enjoyed fishing and wood working, but his favorite hobby was bird hunting. He worked as a banker, starting his career at First National Bank in Arcadia as a teller. John was a wonderful father, and a great friend to all that knew him. He will be missed by all those that loved him and hunted with him.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bridges, parents Franklin and Johnnye Bridges, brother Thurman Bridges and wife Virginia, and by son-in-law Jeff Martin.

He is survived by his children, Becky Bridges Martin and William Scott Bridges, grandchildren Darby Claire Martin, Preston King Martin, and Emily Paige Martin, by sister Joyce Baxley and husband Frank, and by many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Honoring John as pallbearers will be Jeremy Bridges, Shane Bridges, Scott Bridges, Paul Cook, Clay Johnson, and Preston Martin.
