John Dawson Carlisle, age 56, was born on March 14, 1968, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Clyde “Buster” Carlisle and Frances H. Carlisle. He passed away, unexpectedly, on August 8, 2024, doing what he loved most, coaching.
John began as a sports broadcaster with the Clarksville, Texas radio station. Not only did he broadcast games, but he could give the stats on all players of many sports, from memory, acquiring the nickname, “Stats!” John served as a coach at several schools in Texas, with any sport he was asked to coach. He ended his coaching career at Richard’s ISD, Richards, Texas, coaching volleyball. John had a heart as big as Texas and he always wanted to help anyone. He was a friend to all. He loved the Lord, his family, his friends, and southern gospel music, especially the Gaithers!
John was preceded in death by his father, Clyde “Buster” Carlisle and his sister, Carol Carlisle Duhon.
Survivors are his mother, Frances H. Carlisle; sister, Debbie Brown and husband Teddy; brother, Randy Carlisle and wife Tammy; sister, Becky Bezet and husband Randy. His nephews, Jacob Brown and wife Rachel, Eric Brown, Randall Carlisle and fiancée Emilee Jackson, Josiah Bezet and wife Alexandria; nieces, Lindsey Brown, Bethany C. Lindsay and husband Evan, and Hannah Bezet; great nieces and nephews are Hudson, Will, and AnnaBeth Brown, Cooper and Mabry Brown, and Addison Lindsay.
