John William Edwards

HOMER, LA: Graveside services will be held for Mr. John William (J.W.) Edwards, 94, at the Tulip Cemetery near Athens, LA, on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 E. 5th Street in Homer, LA, on Friday, December 19th from 5-7 p.m. Mr. Edwards was born September 13, 1920 in Athens, LA, to Toy and Minnie Polk Edwards. He entered into rest on Monday, December 15, 2014, at the North West Louisiana Veteran's Home in Bossier City, LA. Mr. Edwards served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then worked for over 25 years as a compressor operator with the Arkla Gas in Shreveport, LA. A member since April 17, 1951, Mr. Edwards was a 32nd Degree Master Mason with the Masonic Lodge #152 in Homer. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents; also his wife, Dera Irene Dean Edwards. He is survived by one son, Ronnie Edwards and wife Jennifer of Marco Island, FL; one daughter, Jerrie Edwards of Hot Springs Village, AR; a grandson, Jed Edwards of Dallas TX; a great grandson, William Edwards; two brothers, Robert Edwards and wife Tommie Lou of Kennedy, TX, and Troy Lamar Edwards and wife Virginia of Kennedy, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
