John Larry Felts

A graveside service for John Larry Felts, 80, will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on October 24, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Calvin Hubbard.

Larry was born on April 16, 1944, to Thomas Rodolf Felts and Anabel Gray Felts in Minden, Louisiana, and passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Larry graduated from Bossier High School in 1962, after which he attended Louisiana Tech University. He subsequently served in the United States Navy. Larry retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad in 2005 after over 30 years of service.

Larry married Carole McKinney on November 27, 1963. He passed away one month shy of their 61st wedding anniversary.

He was on swim teams in his youth and also could play piano by ear. He loved to fish when he was younger and loved to catch and eat crawfish. He will be remembered for being a hard-working provider for his family and for the times he made us laugh.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Rodolf Felts; mother, Anabel Gray Felts Phillips; stepfather, Otha Phillips; brother, Tommy Felts, Jr.; nephew, Eddie Felts, and his father and mother-in-law, Bob and Helen McKinney. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole M. Felts; daughters, Shanna Johnson and husband, Scott, and Michele Johnston and husband, Steven; grandchildren, Amanda Woda and husband, Jason, Tyler Johnston and wife, Brooke, Austin Johnson and wife, Ashlyn, Jared Johnson and wife, Annie, Jacob Johnson and fiancée, Celeste; great-grandchildren, August Woda, Ava Johnson, and Sophia Blake Johnston; brother, Don Felts and wife, Judy; sisters-in-law, Kay McKinney and Miriam Felts, along with several nieces and nephews.
