SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral service celebrating the life of John C. "Jack" Foster, 92, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014 with visitation from 9-11 a.m. at Shreveport Baptist Temple, 288 Flournoy Lucas Road. Officiating will be Dr. Howard Hall and Dr. Charles Harvey. Interment will follow at 1p.m. in N W. LA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA.
Jack was born on September 24, 1921 and passed away on August 18, 2014. He was a resident of Shreveport and a proud WWII U.S. Coast Guard Veteran on board the USC GC Roger B. Taney. He made the invasion of Okinawa. Professionally he was a master carpenter and CEO of Foster Remodeling Service. He built bird houses and thousands of small crosses he enjoyed giving away. He also enjoyed playing several musical instruments, fishing, cruising, and telling jokes. Daily exercise was a priority. He was a member of Fitness World and Christus LA Health Club. He loved his church family at Shreveport Baptist Temple. Jack was an active member of the former Sunset Acres Baptist Church. He was a Mason and Shriner for over 50 years.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Esther Boone Foster. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Foster Traficonte, son, John F. "Jackie" Foster and Cindy, daughter, Cindy Foster Fairchild and Richard, granddaughter, Christy Fairchild Howard and Brian, great-grandsons, Grant, Blake and Cole Howard, and faithful caregiver Elaine Johnson.
