John Franklin Utz, Sr.

Funeral services for John Franklin Utz, Sr., 78, will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Jennings Chapel Cemetery in Marthaville, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Monday, August 16, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Troy McGee. John was born on January 13, 1943 in Anacoco, Louisiana to Walter and Agnes Utz and passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 in Coushatta, Louisiana. John is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Reata Utz; and daughter, Gail Smith. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Franklin Utz; grandchildren, Samantha Hesser and husband, Cord, Kent Smith and wife, Heather, and Tyler Smith; great-grandchildren, Brantley and Case Hesser, Melody, Jackson, Sara and Henry Smith; and sister, Christine Lopez. Honoring John as pallbearers are Cord Hesser, Brian Hesser, Kent Smith, Wilson Baker, Wade Baker, Donnie Harrell and John Eldridge. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Billy Hines, Craig White, Shane Rivers and Sterline Wells. The family would like to express special thanks to Green Meadow Haven Nursing Home in Coushatta and Dr. Carter and Dr. Coleman of Christus Coushatta for the wonderful care and compassion given to John.
