John Nicholas Holman, Jr. (Jack)
John Nicholas Holman, Jr. (Jack), 92, of Minden, LA, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Overton Brooks Veterans Hospital in Shreveport, LA.
A celebration of life for Jack with memorial and military services, will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at First United Methodist in Minden, LA with Brian Mercer of First United Methodist officiating.
Jack was born in West Point, MS to Jack, Sr. and Betty Holman on October 4, 1923. He went to schools in Macon, MS. He graduated from Ole Miss in Accounting and Business Administration. He married Mildred Killebrew (Miekie) on June 15, 1952 in Goodman, MS. He worked as an accountant for Macon Chevrolet for five years and then was a District Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America and for the National Council of Boy Scouts of America. He was a veteran of World War II and proudly served in the United States Navy as a Fire Control Man Second Class and was awarded The American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Veterans Honor Medal, and the Congressional Honor Medal. He was involved in Lions Club, Rotary Club, American Legion, and served on many committees of the First United Methodist Church in Minden, Lay Reader in the Episcopal Church for many years. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, Vigil in Order of the Arrow, and the Silver Beaver and was honored for 80 years of services to the Boy Scouts of America.
Jack is preceded in death by is father, John N. Holman, Sr., mother, Betty Tate Holman, sister, Margaret Holman George, and brother, Tommy Tate Holman.
Jack is survived by his wife, Miekie Holman, daughter, Betty Holman Wallace, and son, Jack Holman, III and spouse Lisi. Grandchildren are: Brad and Becky Wallace, Chris and Ashlee Wallace, Morgan and Sara Whitt, Jessica Holman, and Hannah Holman; great-grandchildren are Blayne Farrington, Gray Wallace, Sulli Wallace, Gaines Wallace, Kyla Whitt and soon to be Sadie Belle Wallace and Autymn Noel Whitt.
