BOSSIER CITY, LA - Services for John Harold Roberts, 88, will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Big Cane Baptist Church, Big Cane, LA. Interment will be at Big Cane Baptist Church Cemetery, Big Cane, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Donny Durr. John was born on January 18, 1928 in Evergreen, LA to Fountain and Drusilla Roberts and passed away on June 11, 2016 in Bossier City, LA. He was a resident of Lake Charles, LA for 49 years prior to moving to Shreveport, LA. John was a Merchant Marine for a short time, and served our country in the United States Air Force for three years. John was retired from Cities Service in Lake Charles, LA after 31 years. He was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church and Sale Street Baptist Church in Lake Charles, LA. John was an avid gardener, and loved to visit with his family. All that knew him will miss him. Preceding John in death are his wife of 48 years, Betty Ransom Roberts, his parents, his sister Marline Kelley, brother, Charles Roberts, and son-in-law, Tommy Jordan. Leaving to cherish his memory is his son, Gregory C. Roberts and wife, Trina Jackson Roberts; daughter, Carmen Roberts Jordan; Sister, Ina Mae Cohn; five grandchildren, Samuel Allen Roberts, Olivia K. Roberts, Noah M. Roberts, Katie Joyce Jordan, and Jacob Thomas Jordan; second wife, Betty Lenard Roberts and her children, Brian Lenard, Chip Lenard, and Dawn Frye and husband Hollis; also several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Janie Judd, his sitter for three years, for all of her love, kindness and compassion she showed to John.
