SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for John Wesley Wagnon, Jr., 78, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Waymon Beshea. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date. John was born on December 10, 1937 in Mount Enterprise, TX to John Wesley Wagnon, Sr. and Cozette Liles Wagnon and passed away on February 5, 2016. John joined the US Navy at the tender age of 17 and proudly served his country on the destroyer, USS Chevalier DD-R805. During his military career he worked as an electrician and enjoyed playing baseball and basketball for the Navy. Later, John went to Stephen F. Austin State University on the GI Bill and earned a BS in Chemistry. After graduation he went on to work as a pharmaceutical representative and automotive sales for over 20 years at each. He taught for 2 years at Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, TX. John was an all-round sports enthusiast whether it was football, basketball, fishing or golf. The most important thing in his life was his family and he enjoyed cooking for them. Nandaddy was the patriarch of his family and will be deeply missed. Preceding John in death were his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted and loving wife of 57 years, Sue Sears Wagnon; 3 wonderful sons, John Wesley Wagnon III, Ronald Charles Wagnon and wife, Wendy, and Gregory Allen Wagnon and wife, Carla; grandson, Wesley Allen Wagnon; sister, Kay Wagnon, along with numerous extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, Mt. Enterprise Public Library in Mt. Enterprise, TX. or charity of donor's choice.
