Johnnie Waymon Harper

FRIERSON, LA - Funeral services for Johnnie "J.W." Waymon Harper, 87, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow at Harper Cemetery in Frierson. Officiating will be Rev. Perry Fuller. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the funeral home. J.W. was born on April 3, 1928 in Pleasant Hill, LA to Zachary Lee and Lillie Mae Hendricks Harper and passed away on October 5, 2015 in his home surrounded by his family. He retired from Farming and was a Cattleman. He was a hard worker who loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed mowing his yard and picking up pecans. He was a loving father, grandpa and great-grandpa to all his children. J.W. was preceded in death by his wife, Josie Lea Marze Harper and grandson, Michael Dwayne Harper. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Dale Harper and wife, Lynetta, Dwayne Harper and wife, Kim; daughters, Jean Fuller and husband, Robert, and Sharon Kay Bryan and husband, Luke; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, and life-long friend, Bertha Mae Bernel. Honoring J.W. as pallbearers will be Waymon Fuller, Jason Wadsworth, Dusty Wadsworth, Eric Harper, Sr., Eric Harper, Jr., and Chad Fuller. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Mainiero, David Toothman, and Terry Furrow. The family would like to thank Mrs. Ann Robinson, Mary Short, and Shannon Boughton for all the care, love and support. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Ave, Shreveport, LA 71103.
