A funeral service for Joseph Kae Cockrell will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church in Benton, Louisiana under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. at the church till the start of the service. Father Pike Thomas will officiate the service. Joseph was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on November 6, 1996. He passed away on February 6, 2021 in Indio, California at the age of 24. Growing up, Joseph was musically inclined. At the age of four he began playing the piano and took to it quickly. He played many instruments but was asked to play the trumpet for the school's band. He joined the band, became second chair, and had never previously played before joining. Joseph was also very athletic. He played tennis, football, baseball, and basketball. He would take on the biggest and the toughest even though he had not quite caught up to their growth spurts yet. He loved to drive in his car, whether it be on a road trip or just around town. His favorite times were probably on the water. He loved going to Black Bayou and boating, fishing, and jet skiing. But if you ask anyone about Joseph, they will mention his big brown eyes, his compassion, and his outgoing personality. He loved people and would stand up for anyone being treated poorly. He was always there to offer a helping hand and was not afraid of hard work. He was supportive and comforting and your biggest fan. To know him, is to love him. Joseph is preceded in death by his grandfather, "Grandpa" Robert Cockrell Sr. He is survived by his mother, Jodie Richard Cockrell; father, Tommy Ray Cockrell, Sr.; brothers, Christian Cockrell and Trey Cockrell, and wife, Jessica; sisters, Lauren Cockrell and Emily Cockrell McMaster and husband, Anthony; grandparents, "Papaw" J. K. and "Hunny" Kay Richard, and "Grandma" Liz Cockrell; biological father, Jeff Gucker and grandmother, "Gigi" Gale Gucker; nephews, Michael, Francis and Thomas; niece, Emma; close family friend, Adrianne "Aunt Dippy" Dean, and husband, Sam, and their daughters, Riley and Sophia; best friend, Bobby Frazier; and many numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
