On the morning of Monday, September 22, 2014,Joseph J Neucere "Joe" passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family at his home in Shreveport, Louisiana. Joe was born in Hessmer, Louisiana on October 2, 1931 to Cyriaque Neucere and Mary Vead Neucere. He was the youngest son and second to the youngest child of 9 siblings and 11 half siblings. Joe began his military in 1951. While stationed at Offutt AFB in Omaha, Nebraska, he met Regina Lee Gibson "Jean", who happened to hold a civil service job in the same building where Joe stood guard outside the office of General Curtis Lemay. They were married on February 23, 1957. Joe served his country in the United States Air Force for 22 years and retired in January 1973. Immediately after his retirement, he accepted a position as a letter carrier with the United States Post Office in Shreveport, Louisiana. He retired from the USPS in March 1993. Joe was a devoted member of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, the Men's Club, and Knights of Columbus. Joe will be most remembered by his love of family, country, and cooking. Joe touched so many lives through his God given gift of serving others. Joe was preceeded in death by his parents, Cyriaque and Mary Vead Neucere, son, Michael J. Neucere Sr, son-in-law, Ken Harmon and 20 siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jean Neucere, daughters Janet Harmon and Mary Anderson( Kevin), son David (Janet), grandsons, Jeffrey ( Renee), Jason and Jamie Pilcher, David (Shanna) and Matthew Anderson, Michael J Neucere Jr, Hunter and Parker Neucere , his only granddaughter Jennifer Giddens (Scott), 5 great granddaughters, 4 great grandsons and his sister Dora Neucere. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jeff Pilcher, Jamie Pilcher, David Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Hunter Neucere, Parker Neucere, and great grandsons Landon Pilcher and Grant Anderson. Honorary Pall bearers will be Jason Pilcher, Robert Pilcher, members of St. Mary of the Pines Men's Club, Marian Council Knights of Columbus # 3779, and Bishop Desmond Assembly 4th degree Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 5-7 pm followed by a prayer vigil at Roseneath Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 2 pm at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, 1050 Bert Kouns Ind. Loop. The service will be officiated by Monsignor Carson LaCaze and Father Francis Kamau FMH. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Cemetery, 8801 Mansfield Rd in Shreveport. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the loving care from Dr. Rick Michael, Dr. David Green, Dr. Jonathan Davis, Jennifer Love, P.A., Hospice of Shreveport Bossier and Ann Robinson, RN. In lieu of flowers. the family requests donations be made to St. Mary of the Pines Cathoilic Church, 1050 Bert Kouns Ind. Loop, Shreveport, LA 71118 or the charity of your choice.
