Graveside services honoring the life of Joseph "Joe" Taylor, 86, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Stanley, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. Richard Tull. Joe was born on October 25, 1933 in Trinity, Texas to Archie and Ira Taylor. He entered into eternal rest on May 30, 2020 in Stanley, Louisiana. Joe began working as a welder at Hughes Tool Company in Houston, Texas at age 18. He joined the Army at age 20, years later he returned to Hughes Tool where he remained for 30 years. After retiring as a Master Welder, he returned to his family homestead in Stanley, Louisiana where he fulfilled his dream of building a beautiful home and enjoying farm life. Joe was continually absorbed with nature and working with his hands. Depending on the season, you would find him picking wild dewberries, harvesting his garden, or crawling on the ground gathering pecans. Anyone in the community that needed peas and okra knew Joe Taylor was the man to go to. Joe loved to start his day early visiting the local coffee shop and fishing. He shared his produce with his family and neighbors. He was a hard worker with a big heart and dedicated to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Ira Taylor; brothers, Billy Taylor and Dwayne Taylor; sisters, Linnie Evelyn Taylor and Mildred Colson; and daughter-in-law, Chance Taylor. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Barbara Wells Taylor of Logansport, LA; sons, Andy Taylor and wife Cynthia Biggs Taylor of Stanley, LA and Roy Taylor of Huffman, TX; daughter, LaNita Faught and husband Greg of Houston, TX; sister, Jackie Booker and husband Richard of Logansport, LA; brother, Harvey Taylor of Splendora, TX; grandchildren, Brian Faught, Kevin Faught, Misty Taylor Lagars, and Kayla Taylor Steinbach; great-grandchildren, Rhylee Jo Steinbach, Bryleigh Skye Lagars, and Skylar Lynn Faught.
