Joyce was a devoted wife and mother. She always took great care of her family and loved ones and at one time was a foster mother to two brothers, Randy and Todd. She was the oldest of her sisters, Ada, Dianne and Mickie who supported each other throughout their lives. While her children were at home, she worked as a teacher's aide and bank teller. Later in life she went back to school to complete her education. She graduated magna cum laude from Louisiana State University- Shreveport at the age of 51. She became an elementary education teacher before she retired at the age of 63, due to being diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. She was active in the Assembly of God church for many years. She enjoyed singing in the choir and working with the boys' group, Royal Rangers, specifically, the younger boys in Straight Arrows and Buckaroos. She loved to travel and had a passion for thrifting including going to garage and estate sales. She had an uncanny ability to search out garage sales from all corners of the earth! She will always be remembered for her bubbly personality, her spirit of giving, and her beautiful eyes.
